A Wonderland Station improvement project in Revere, Mass., can begin now that a $20 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant has been finalized.
On Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced the Federal Transit Administration and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority reached an agreement on the grant’s release.
Wonderland Station serves 26 communities in Boston and Revere. The project calls for building an upper plaza over the station’s rail terminal that provides access to trains, a new bus way and a 1,418-space parking garage, and improving pedestrian access to beach and recreational areas.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring 2011 and be completed in June 2012.
