TriMet posted ridership gain in September

Ridership at the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) in September rose 2.8 percent to 8.4 million trips compared with the year-ago total. The largest gains were registered on the MAX Green Line light-rail and WES commuter-rail services, which both increased 13 percent, agency officials said in a prepared statement.
Weekly trips on the system’s rail and bus services rose 2.8 percent; weekday trips grew 3.2 percent; and rush hour trips increased 2.9 percent. However, weekend trips slipped 1.1 percent.
On the MAX Green Line, weekday trips soared 13 percent and weekend trips jumped 8 percent. On the WES line, weekday/rush hour and weekly categories both surged 13.2 percent.
