Tri-Rail shatters ridership record in '08

Last year, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) carried a record 4.3 million passengers on its Tri-Rail system, representing a 22.9 percent increase compared with 2007's total and the first time ridership topped the 4 million mark in a calendar year.
SFRTA has posted double-digit ridership growth the past three years. In addition, ridership has more than doubled since 2005, when the commuter-rail agency completed a system-wide double-tracking project and significantly increased service.
