Transit CIOs form consortium to share information technology
advertisement
Chief information officers (CIO) from some of the nation’s largest transit agencies recently created the first-ever national transit agency CIO consortium.
The consortium will serve as a forum for the CIOs to share technology and program information on a range of technology subjects. Specific collaborations are expected on technology topics such as asset management systems, cloud computing, customer communications, closed circuit TV security and video management, data security, enterprise architecture, enterprise resource planning, IT centralization and consolidation, IT governance, PCI compliance, portfolio management, smart cards and fare collection.
The consortium includes CIOs from more than 30 U.S. transit agencies. The organization expects to save “tens of thousands of IT dollars” by sharing best practices and successful programs, according to a prepared statement.
