advertisement
Sound Transit plans to unveil futuristic ticket vending machines Sept. 11 at Seattle’s Union Station concourse from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (PDT), in preparation for Sounder commuter rail service’s inaugural run Sept. 18.
The machines, built by Germany-based Scheidt-Bachmann, feature large multi-color touch-screens and voice-aided directions, and can accept cash and credit cards.
The agency plans to have machines at King Street Station, Auburn Station, the Tacoma Dome parking garage and Union Station by the time Sounder’s two-level trains begin service between Tacoma, Wash., and Seattle.
