Santa Clara VTA posts ridership gains in December, 2008

Ridership on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's (VTA) light-rail and bus systems rose every month in 2008, finishing the year with a 7.9 percent gain in December, when ridership totaled 3.5 million.
Light-rail ridership rose 6.9 percent to 807,988 compared with December 2007's total. Average weekday light-rail ridership increased 6.9 percent to 30,009.
For the full year, VTA ridership rose 6.2 percent systemwide vs. 2007's total.
