Santa Clara VTA obtains state funding for BART extension

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Silicon Valley project landed $40 million in Traffic Congestion Relief Program (TCRP) funds from the California Transportation Commission last week.
The $40 million is the second installment of an anticipated six payments, totalling about $240 million under California’s TCRP allocation plan. The most recent funds will be designated for project engineering, VTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The BART Silicon Valley project includes a 16-mile extension to BART's system to San Jose, Milpitas and Santa Clara.
