SEPTA rolls out Wi-Fi, digital services at commuter-rail hub

The agency partnered with Intersection to provide the new amenities.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has added Wi-Fi and other digital services to its Suburban Station commuter-rail hub in Philadelphia.

In addition to high-speed Wi-Fi, the station now offers 10 interactive kiosks that provide real-time transit information, wayfinding and maps. SEPTA also plans to install two device charging stations at the station, agency officials said in a press release.

SEPTA has partnered with Alphabet-backed startup Interactive to provide the new amenities. Intersection also was tapped to deploy nearly 300 new interactive digital displays with real-time train updates across subway and commuter-rail lines.

"Our mission at Intersection is to ease and enrich people's journeys through their cities, and this partnership with SEPTA does exactly that at zero cost to SEPTA or its customers," said Scott Goldsmith, president of Intersection's Cities and Transit unit.

Each day, more than 25,000 customers use the Suburban Station, which is served by all 13 Regional Rail routes.
