Ridership figures: Amtrak's Silver Service reaches year's high-water mark in April

In April, Amtrak’s Miami-to-New York City Silver Service routes recorded the largest ridership increase so far this fiscal year.
Compared with April 2002, Silver Star's ridership of 23,319 rose 15; Palmetto's 18,247, 4.8 percent; and Silver Meteor's 26,348, 27 percent — the fourth consecutive month Silver Meteor added passengers.
Meanwhile, 19.8 percent more Silver Star passengers requested sleeping accommodations compared with April 2002. System-wide, Amtrak recorded a 4.1 increase in passengers requesting sleeping accommodations in April.
