The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's (PANYNJ) commuter-rail system, carried about 5.1 million passengers in June.
That ridership rose 8% from June 2024's total, but remains only 75% of what it was before the pandemic, PANYNJ officials said in a press release. In 2025's first half, PATH carried 29.2 million passengers, up 7% year over year but still only 72% of the total from the first six months of pre-pandemic 2019.
Average weekday ridership for June reached 203,990 passengers, exceeding 200,000 for the third consecutive month. Average Saturday ridership of 115,262 passengers surpassed pre-pandemic June 2019 by 1.8%, while average Sunday ridership of 90,208 passengers was on par with pre-pandemic ridership.
PANYNJ also reported strong freight volume in June despite global trade uncertainty. The port handled 4,417,282 20-foot-equivalent units during the first six months of the year, up 4.9% over the same 2024 period and a 20.9% jump over the same 2019 period.
