The Ontario government is extending GO Transit's service into Stratford beginning July 6.
The Kitchener GO Line will begin offering one daily round trip between Stratford and Toronto. On weekdays, the train will depart from Stratford in the morning and return in the afternoon to support commuters going into Toronto.
On weekends, the service will be flipped to support tourists and Stratford Festival visitors, with trains departing from Toronto in the morning and returning in the evening.
The Stratford service expansion is part of Ontario's larger CA$70 billion investment in the province's public transit offerings, Ontario government officials said in a press release. The province aims to deliver two-way, all-day service on GO Transit's busiest rail lines, while expanding its service to new communities in the Durham, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton and Niagara regions.
GO Transit is the regional public transit service for greater Ontario. It is a division of the province-run agency Metrolinx.
