New York City Transit turns to real-time rider information system
advertisement
MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) recently installed real-time train arrival message systems in five stations along the Pelham 6 Line in the Bronx.
Still in the initial testing phase, the Public Address Customer Information Screen (PA/CIS) provides audio and video train arrival messages, which indicate when the next two trains are due to arrive at the station and their destinations.
NYCT plans to roll out the system incrementally throughout 2010 and expects 152 stations on numbered lines to be operational by first-quarter 2011. PA/CIS was first introduced along the Canarsie L line in January 2007.
