MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) earlier this month appointed John Gaul to become its first ever vice president of 21st century service delivery. In this newly created position, Gaul will focus on customer service and communication, keeping abreast of new technologies for the system and expanding the system's overall capacity."Moving more than 6 million customers is our daily challenge on the New York City subway system, but meeting their growing expectations requires long-term strategies for how to improve our service," said NYCT President Carmen Bianco in a statement. "John will bring a visionary approach to this task, looking far down the tracks to further develop the system so we can meet customers’ needs in the decades to come."Gaul previously served as vice president and chief officer of service delivery at the Department of Subways and as the head of the Staten Island Railway. Gaul first began his transit career at the Chicago Transit Authority.To accommodate the move, Wynton Habersham assumed Gaul's previous post, while Frank Jezycki succeeded Habersham as vice president and chief officer for the Maintenance of Way Division.The appointments went into effect March 1.
