Forbes magazine has named New Jersey Transit a top employer in New Jersey, based on Statista market research.

The state rankings are part of Forbes' larger "Best-In-State Employers" list. NJ Transit placed No. 1 in the Transportation and Logistics category, and No. 71 out of 90 employers chosen from New Jersey. The magazine evaluates companies on their workplace culture, employee satisfaction and professional development opportunities.

Data was collected over the past three years to allow agencies that consistently perform well to distinguish themselves, NJ Transit officials said in a press release. NJ Transit has made Forbes’ list for the eighth straight year and was named to the national list of best employers in both 2024 and 2025, NJ Transit officials said.

Forbes partnered with Statista to survey more than 245,000 full- and part-time employees across the United States. Participants, who all work for companies with at least 500 employees, were asked to rate their employers on factors such as wages and benefits, management style, company reputation, flexibility and career advancement opportunities.

This year's rankings included 1,365 companies across the United States. The full list of America's Best-In-State Employers 2025 can be viewed here.
