NICTD approves fare increase
advertisement
On May 30, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) approved a 10 percent across-the-board fare increase.
Effective July 15, the increase is expected to help NICTD recover from declining ridership revenue and costs incurred by initiating service improvements, such as expanding and improving parking, and adding mid-day trains.
The agency also plans to reduce weekend excursion fares to Chicago.
NICTD’s board voted against a proposal that would have changed the qualifying age for youth fares from 2 to 13 to 2 to 11.
