The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority held a dedication ceremony Sept. 12 to mark the completion of the new rail station in Monrovia, Calif., which is part of the 11.5-mile light-rail extension between Pasadena and Azusa.

The Monrovia Station is located on the right of way between Magnolia Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, in the heart of the city's 50-acre Station Square Transit Village that is under development.

The Monrovia Station is one of six being built as part of the $1 billion Pasadena-to-Azusa extension of the Foothill Gold Line project. The segment is on schedule to be turned over to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) for pre-revenue service later this month, officials from the construction authority said in a press release.

Metro officials anticipate starting passenger service in 2016.
