Metrolinx crews have broken ground on the second new station on the Scarborough subway extension at Lawrence Avenue and McCowan Road in Toronto.
The three-stop subway will extend the Toronto Transit Commission's Line 2 service from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing transit for those heading in and out of the downtown core and those traveling within Scarborough, Metrolinx officials said in a press release. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT).
The finished station will feature a bus terminal with connections to express services on Lawrence Avenue, expanding transit in east Toronto, Metrolinx officials said.
Work on the first of the three new stations — Scarborough Centre station — began in September 2025. The extension is slated for completion in 2029 or 2030.
