Judge rules in favor of MARTA in fare-collection system contract dispute
advertisement
On Dec. 22, Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) won a lawsuit filed by the losing bidder for the authority’s recent $104 million fare collection system contract.
Thales e-Transactions was seeking a permanent injunction requiring MARTA to re-bid the contract — which was awarded to Cubic Transportation System — and pay $1 million in bid preparation costs. Thales officials claimed MARTA treated them unfairly when evaluating their proposal.
The authority originally had planned to install the new fare-collection system in 2005; the four-month legal battle is expected to delay installation until 2006.
