Houston METRO board adopts three-year plan
advertisement
Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas, (METRO) board of directors recently approved a three-year service plan that includes the start-up of METRORail operations, a 9 percent increase in bus services and nearly 11 percent increase in METROLift service — but no fare increase for fiscal-year 2003 through FY05, according to a statement released July 26.
While the board expects local, commuter and METROLift services to increase, it also anticipates the agency’s Special Events service will experience a major decline as a result of Reliant Stadiums opening and additional parking availability for events such as the annual Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
