Hampton Roads Transit assesses Virginia Beach extension study
advertisement
Yesterday, Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) held a public meeting to review the status of the Virginia Beach Transit Extension Study.
The agency is conducting the study as part of an ongoing effort to determine the best transit use of an inactive Norfolk Southern Railway right of way that runs parallel to Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach, Va. Options include extending The Tide light-rail system or using the right of way for bus rapid transit.
HRT officials also reviewed potential station locations and grade separations, and a preferred site for a transit vehicle storage and maintenance facility.
