Greater Cleveland RTA completes airport tunnel upgrade

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) earlier this week opened the Airport Rapid Transit Station following a seven-month construction project to upgrade the airport tunnel.

The $10 million project is the second of two major Red Line projects completed this spring. Last month, service was restored on the S-Curve, following a $7 million track upgrade between the West 117th and West Boulevard Rapid stations, GCRTA officials said in a prepared statement.

All segments of the Red Line between Tower City and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are now in service, they said.
