The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority's (SFRTA) Tri-Rail commuter railroad set a new annual ridership record of more than 4.5 million rides in 2025, surpassing the previous record of 4.4 million achieved in 2019.

Tri-Rail kicked off 2026 with a special New Year's service, providing post-midnight train service. The commuter railroad is also preparing for increased ridership when Miami hosts FIFA World Cup matches in June, SFRTA officials said in a press release.

The commuter railroad connects passengers to other transportation networks in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties, as well as the Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the Palm Beach International Airport.
