The Federal Transit Administration is seeking input from transit agencies, transportation industry groups and members of the public to develop a dashboard that tracks transit agencies' family-friendliness.
Transit agencies will be able to use the dashboard to track improvements on a number of performance metrics, FTA officials said in a press release. To develop the dashboard, the FTA is requesting information from transit agencies on how they currently measure service performance. Additionally, the FTA seeks input on how to best collect data on and track five key performance metrics: safety and security, cleanliness, universal accessibility, real-time service data availability and system reliability.
The FTA will use the submitted information to develop tools to help transit agencies assess the quality of their services and identify ways to make improvements. Comments are due Aug. 3.
"By focusing on these family-friendly features, transit systems will be putting the needs of American families first. It will also help states learn from one another on what efforts are already helping communities elsewhere," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
