advertisement
On May 16, Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority received a $59 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration under a Full Funding Grant Agreement.
The grant will help fund the 3.1-mile Blue Line extension to Largo Town Center in Largo, Md., which includes two new stations — one in Largo Town Center and one at the mid-point of the alignment. The line would be the first WMATA segment to extend into Prince George’s County.
The total project cost is $433.8 million, with a federal share of $260.3 million. The grant is FTA’s third installment of New Starts funds for the project.
The Blue Line extension is scheduled to open in December 2004.
