Denver RTD to begin testing Southeast light-rail extension
Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD) this month will begin testing on its 2.5-mile Southeast light-rail extension in Lone Tree, Colorado.
The agency is scheduled to energize the rail line next week, with testing of the entire extension to start shortly after, RTD officials said in a news release.
An extension of the nearly 20-mile Southeast Line, the new route runs from the Lincoln to RidgeGate stations.
During the integrated testing phase, crews will measure track clearances, test train signals and and the electrical and communications systems. After that phase is completed, RTD will begin training operations crews.
Revenue service is slated to begin next year, although an exact date has yet to be determined.
The Southeast extension is part of RTD's FasTracks program to expand rapid transit across the Denver area.
