Final preparations are under way for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) July 30 opening of the Orange Line light-rail service.
The new rail schedule will begin July 16 and new stations will open July 30, DART officials said in a prepared statement.
The opening of the first phase of the Orange Line, a 5.4-mile section from Bachman Station to Irving Convention Center Station, will provide riders access to arts, education, entertainment and businesses, they said. The Orange line will add new stations to DART’s system at the University of Dallas, Las Colinas Urban Center and Irving Convention Center.
Also as part of the changes, three original DART stations and Trinity Railway Express stations will receive new names to better reflect their neighborhood identities. The Pearl Station will become the Pearl/Arts District Station; Cityplace will become Cityplace/Uptown Station; and South Irving Station will become the Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station.
