Venezuela’s Caracas Metro Authority (CAMC) recently awarded ALSTOM, as part of the Frameca consortium, a $108 million contract to supply rolling stock and a large part of the turnkey operating system for a line extension, ALSTOM announced Sept. 30.
As consortium co-leader, ALSTOM will be responsible for electrifying the line, and supplying part of the signaling equipment and seven six-car metro trains. Other consortium members include lead firm SGTE, Siemens, Thales (for train control), Spie (tracks), Bombardier, Cogifer and CSEE Transport.
Since CAMC opened its first line in 1983, ALSTOM has supplied more than 500 metro cars and refurbished 258 cars.
