Cleveland taps new rail director

Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) June 12 named Michael Couse district director of rail operations.
Couse brings with him nearly 30 years’ railroading experience, most recently at Toronto Transit Commission where he served as deputy general superintendent of subway transportation, responsible for a $50 million budget, 860 unionized subway operators and 90 supervisory and management personnel.
Prior to that, Couse worked 25 years at Canadian Pacific Railway in various supervisory roles, including manager operations/ assistant superintendent/trainmaster for the Schrieber, Ontario, terminal. He was directly responsible for an $18 million operating budget and 140 employees.
At RTA, Couse supervises 513 employees and oversees an annual operating budget of nearly $36 million.
