Rail News: Passenger Rail
Late last month, North Carolina’s Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) began operating trolley service in the city for the first time in more than 65 years.
Running between the Historic South End and Center City Charlotte, the 2.1-mile, 10-station line features Car 85 — the city’s only remaining trolley car from operations that ceased in 1938. CATS plans take delivery of three replica cars later this summer to provide more frequent service along the line.
