Caltrain to pilot weekend express service
advertisement
Beginning Jan. 1, Caltrain plans to launch a weekend Baby Bullet express service pilot project aimed at increasing revenue and ridership.
During budget meetings held in the fall, many members of the public suggested Caltrain operate the weekend express service. The pilot program is scheduled to last three months; Caltrain retains an option to extend it.
Caltrain plans to operate one morning and one evening train in each direction between San Francisco and San Jose. Between the terminals, trains would make seven stops, which were chosen based on ridership, available connections to other transit systems and proximity to city centers.
The agency will evaluate the express service via customer surveys, ridership counts and ticket sales information.
