BART to hold budget hearings
advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit board members plan June 14 to hold a public meeting and receive public testimony regarding the agency’s preliminary $368 million Fiscal Year 2002 Operating Budget.
Despite the sluggish economy, the budget calls for $4.5 million in customer service enhancements, including additional BART police officers, increased access programs, station planning, employee training and development, and improvements to BART’s Web site — all this, without increasing fares.
BART officials believe the enhancements can be funded entirely through the agency’s existing revenue sources through efficiencies and cost controls in other areas.
The board expects to adopt the budget at its regularly scheduled June 28 meeting; FY2002 begins July 1.
