advertisement
Yesterday, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) board approved the first construction contract for the 10-mile Eastern Contra Costa County, or eBART, extension.
The agency awarded a $26 million contract to West Bay Builders Inc. to build a transfer platform and make necessary rail improvements to begin extending the line to a terminus station at Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch, Calif.
BART plans to operate diesel multiple unit vehicles in the median of State Route 4 from a transfer platform at the existing Pittsburgh/Bay Point station to Antioch.
