Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) marked a ridership milestone in March. The agency recorded 5,403,140 exits last month, its highest monthly ridership since the pandemic.

BART’s previous post-pandemic monthly high was 5,346,890 exits registered in October 2025.

Saturday ridership also surged in Marchclimbing 38% year over year due to strong demand for weekend travel and major events across the San Francisco Bay area, BART officials said in a press release.

In addition, average weekday ridership in March exceeded 200,000 trips for the first time since the pandemic.

This signals continued return of riders for both work and everyday travel,” BART officials said.

Meanwhile, Tri-Rail on April 11 hit a significant daily ridership mark because the Inter Miami CF soccer team began its inaugural season at Nu Stadium in Miami.

The commuter railroad registered 9,668 total rides, making it the fourth-busiest Saturday in the system’s history. For Inter Miami CF’s first game on April 4, Tri-Rail provided 9,131 rides, the eight-highest ridership mark on a Saturday.

More than 1,000 fans took advantage of the railroad’s special event trains for the team’s opening home games, Tri-Rail officials said in a press release. The stadium is within walking distance of the Miami Airport Station at the Miami Intermodal Center.
