Alcatel receives contract to upgrade Detroit Downtown People Movers
advertisement
Detroit Transportation Corp. (DTC) recently awarded a $6 million contract to Alcatel’s Canadian Transport Automation Division to upgrade Detroit Downtown People Mover’s (DDPM) communications-based train control system.
Alcatel would install the latest automatic train-control equipment and NetTrac central-control system technology on the DDPM, which went into revenue service in 1987 with Alcatel’s SelTrac S40 ATO system.
Designed to include data logging, performance monitoring, expandable open standards architecture and system interfacing capability, the system would provide DTC with increased train availability and operation management flexibility, according to a prepared statement.
Alcatel plans to install and test the system by July 2004, when DTC is expected to re-open its Renaissance station.
