Tri-Met adopts five-year plan

Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon recently approved a Transit Investment Plan, which identifies service needs during the next five years.

The plan sets criteria for adding new service and amenities, such as ridership potential, access to jobs, air quality, transit equity, land use/development patterns and regional partnerships. The improvements would be made to maintain system quality, increase ridership, improve local service through neighborhoods and communities, and expand programs.

Recommended improvements for fiscal-year 2004 include opening the Interstate MAX light-rail Yellow Line, extending the Airport MAX Red Line to Beaverton Transit Center and expand the Frequent Service system, providing 15-minute or better service.

The agency plans to update the plan annually.
