UTU ratifies NJ Transit contract

United Transportation Union recently ratified a three-year contract with New Jersey Transit.

The contract includes current and retroactive (to July 1, 2001) wage increases, health and welfare coverage improvements, work rule clarifications and surviving spouse benefit-distribution modifications.

UTU represents more than 1,000 NJ Transit conductors and some locomotive engineers. More than 90 percent of eligible voters cast ballots.
