Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has awarded a contract to Intersection Media to manage advertising space at rail stations and on rail cars, buses, streetcars and paratransit vehicles.
The ad spaces include rail stations, rail cars, buses, streetcars and paratransit vehicles. The 10-year contract, which includes two one-year options, includes the installation of 200 new digital displays, ad space at 60 electric vehicle charging stations at nine locations and digital ad screens on new rail cars set to arrive in Atlanta in 2023.
The contract is part of MARTA's efforts to find alternative revenue sources.
Intersection Media was evaluated on industry experience, ad creativity, services, sales and cost. Diversity and inclusion initiatives were also considered, as well as mobile ad integration. The company guarantees MARTA a 70% share of ad revenue placed on MARTA properties, with a minimum annual guarantee of $60 million over the contract's term.
“MARTA has prime advertising space, much of which is mobile and seen by tens of thousands of people every day,” said Jennifer Jinadu-Wright, MARTA's senior director of marketing and sales.
