The Denton County Transportation Authority's (DCTA) board has approved a fiscal-year 2018 strategic planning guidance report.

The report details the board's priorities for FY18, which runs form October 2017 through September 2018. The goals include preparing initial analysis of A-train service extensions north and south, and developing a legislative package to allow use of freight corridors for commuter rail.

In addition, DCTA aims to grow overall ridership and improve service in Denton, Highland Village and Lewisville, Texas, as well as build stronger relationships with stakeholders. Denton and Collin counties, Texas, are projected to be the United States' fastest growing economies over the next five years, DCTA officials said in a press release.

"This strategic plan will allow us to design a more robust system to meet the increasing mobility needs of the many communities we serve," said DCTA President Jim Cline.  "Continued support from our stakeholders and riders is vital to our success in shaping the future of mobility in Denton and Collin counties."
