The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) on Wednesday celebrated its 31 billionth ride since the agency was established in 1921.The TTC estimates the trip took place last month. The agency selected a random rider to represent the 31 billionth trip who received a year's worth of complimentary monthly passes."It is an exciting time for transit in Toronto with a new subway extension opening this year and the ongoing modernization of [our] entire network,” said TTC Chair Josh Colle in a press release.TTC's ridership has increased each year for the past 13 years. In 2015, the agency served an all-time record of 537 million passengers.
