Metrolink next week will begin operating test trains in the early morning in preparation for service on the agency's 91/Perris Valley Line (PVL), which extends the 91 Line 24 miles.The testing will simulate weekday passenger service scheduled to begin later this year. In the coming weeks, Metrolink will announce the start date for actual service on the extension, which runs between the cities of Perris and Riverside, Calif., agency officials said in a press release.The 91/PVL project called for enhancing 15 grade crossings in Riverside County, Calif. The safety measures include flashing warning devices, gates, raised center medians, striping and pavement markings. Crews also added pedestrian crosswalks at two crossings and permanently closed two others, Metrolink officials said.The extension includes four new stations.
