The Iowa Department of Transportation will host a meeting later this month to accept public comments on a draft of the Iowa Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The draft plan identifies all projects proposed to be authorized for funding by the Federal Highway Administration or Federal Transit Administration during federal fiscal years 2016-2019, department officials said in a press release.The plan covers projects for state, county, city and federal transportation systems. Included in the draft is work on the proposed passenger-rail service between Dubuque, Iowa, and Chicago.The meeting will be held Aug. 20 at the department's headquarters in Ames, Iowa.
