DFW Airport station to open next month

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is gearing up for the Aug. 18 opening of the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Station, which will represent the final segment of the 14-mile Orange Line.

Riders who board the train at DFW Airport Station will be able to reach key North Texas destinations accessible from DART, including the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas Arts District, NorthPark Center, Fair Park, American Airlines Center, Irving Convention Center and corporate campuses in Richardson, DART and tourism officials said in a press release.

"The opening of DFW Airport Station puts Dallas and our region in a more competitive position to attract larger conventions and major sporting events," said Phillip Jones, president and chief executive officer the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The station platform will be located between International Parkway and the North Service Road near Terminal A. The Orange Line is a key component of regional rail expansion that will lead to the growth of DART's network to 90 miles. The line will run parallel with the Green Line through downtown Dallas to Bachman Station in northwest Dallas.
