TriMet posts holiday ridership jump on MAX Red Line

The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon's (TriMet) MAX Red Line's ridership increased 7.6 percent over the Thanksgiving Day holiday compared with last year’s holiday.

During the holiday period, the light-rail line provided rides to 15,500 airline travelers, airport employees and visitors. Last year, the ridership for that period was 14,400, TriMet officials said in a press release.

The train-to-plane MAX line, which provides direct service to Portland International Airport, posted a 1.2 percent increase in ridership on Nov. 27 and ridership was up 9.7 percent on Dec. 1, they said.

MAX Red Line was the first train-to-plane connection on the West Coast and continues to serve as a quick connection. Trains run about every 15 minutes most of the day.
