LACMTA to solicit public comments on South Bay Metro Green Line extension

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) will hold three community meetings in April to solicit public comments on the environmental impact of the proposed South Bay Metro Green Line extension.

LACMTA officials are preparing a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report to identify transit improvements that would provide an alternative to the I-405 corridor via regional transit service through connections to the proposed Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor, which also is under environmental review.

As part of the draft report, LACMTA will study existing conditions, refine alternatives and assess environmental impacts.

A light-rail "build" alternative under consideration would extend the Metro Green Line at the Redondo Beach Station to the proposed Torrance Regional Transit Center, LACMTA officials said in a prepared statement.

The draft report also will evaluate no-build and Transportation Systems Management alternatives.

The meetings will be held April 6, 11 and 14.
