TransLink, DCTA, CSXT and Watco appoint execs

Two transit agencies, one Class I and one short-line holding company recently announced the following executive appointments:

TransLink’s board named Ian Jarvis chief executive officer. He had served as interim CEO since November, when Tom Prendergast resigned as head of the Vancouver, British Columbia, transit agency to become president of MTA New York City Transit. Jarvis was vice president of finance and corporate services for Coast Mountain Bus Co. before he rejoined TransLink last year. He helped form TransLink in March 1999, and later served as chief financial officer for both the Greater Vancouver Regional District (now Metro Vancouver) and TransLink, and VP of finance for TransLink.

• The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) named Jim Cline president, effective March 1, to succeed Jim Witt, who has held the position on an interim basis since early 2009. Cline has served as a director for the city of Irving, Texas, since 1998. He has played a major role in the implementation of Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Orange Line, and worked closely with Trinity Railway Express and the Federal Railroad Administration on the city’s grade crossing-related issues, according to DCTA. Prior to joining the city, Cline served the city of Beaumont, Texas, for eight years.

CSX Transportation named Clark Robertson assistant vice president-regional development. Most recently first vice president at ProLogis, where he was responsible for several strategic alliances with railroads and ports, Robertson will report to VP-Emerging Markets Fredrik Eliasson. During his 25-year career, Robertson has gained business development experience involving intermodal, ports and industrial properties at Cherokee Investment Partners, The Broe Cos. and Trammell Crow.

Watco Transportation Services Co. named James Mattsen marketing manager for the Yellowstone Valley and Mission Mountain railroads. He most recently served Progressive Rail Inc. in various capacities, including manager of equipment accounting and customer solutions coordinator.
