John Fasana, a Duarte, Calif., city councilman, July 1 began his term as Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) board chair, succeeding outgoing chair Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.

Fasana’s term will extend through June, 2002, reflecting the board’s recent decision to change service terms from two years to one.

Fasana, a former mayor of Duarte, has served on MTA’s board since 1993. He is one of four members appointed by the Los Angeles County City Selection Committee, which comprises representatives from the 87 cities in the county, except the City of Los Angeles.
