Earth Tech lands CTA construction safety management services contract


Chicago Transit Authority recently awarded Earth Tech a construction safety management (CSM) services contract valued at more than $1.5 million for CTA’s Cermak (Douglas) Branch reconstruction project.



Over the next four years, CTA plans to replace the entire 100-year-old, 6.5-mile branch of its elevated heavy-rail Blue Line at an estimated cost of $482.6 million.



Under contract terms, Earth Tech are to ensure the project’s contractors conform to safety programs in accordance with Federal Transit Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, CTA, contract requirements, and the Owner’s Controlled Insurance Program.



Responsibilities include safety monitoring and inspection; employee safety training and orientation; project coordination meetings; site-specific safety plans and task hazard assessments; daily safety tasks and responsibilities; project safety records and statistics; accident management systems; and regulatory inspections.
