Rail News: Maintenance Of Way
Later this month, Caltrain plans to begin upgrading four bridges in San Mateo, Calif.
Built at the turn of the century, the bridges no longer meet clearance specifications, according to Caltrain. Crews will install 53-foot steel “crash beams” designed to protect tracks if the bridge is hit by a vehicle. Caltrain expects to complete the project in summer.
