BART purchases rail grinder No. 2

Bay Area Rapid Transit has added a second rail grinder to its arsenal of maintenance-of-way equipment.
The $4 million machine will enable BART to keep up with rail grinding demands and mitigate noise. By smoothing out ripples formed by trains running over the rails, BART will be able to alleviate the sound of rail cars screeching over the track.
