UP siding project under way in Portland

Last month, Union Pacific Railroad began a $4.8 million project to extend a siding near Portland, Ore.

Part of the city of Portland’s East Columbia-to-Lombard Connector Project, the siding will be about 9,900 feet long when completed in February 2006. UP crews will construct more than 7,000 feet of track and connect the siding to an existing passing track.
